The latest variant of the L-39NG aircraft is a modern and efficient light jet designed to serve advanced air forces in a light attack role and/or as a unique and robust training system. The aircraft is based on the new L-39 aerodynamic concept with optimized characteristics to minimize drag and improve efficiency.
These Jet Jockeys Might Have More Money Than Brains
The design of the L-39 training aircraft Jan Vicek took over the design work for the L-39 in 1966. The aircraft is designed to carry out basic and advanced pilot training, operational training, border patrol , target simulation and light combat strike missions.
It can hold five main fuel tanks made from rubber bags behind the cockpit. Each fuel tank can hold 1,055 liters of fuel.
Two more fuel tanks, each with a capacity of 100 l, were installed on the non-droppable wing. The jet trainer is also equipped with two 350 L drop tanks on the inner pylons under the wing, increasing the total fuel capacity to 1,955 L.
The development of the L-39 Albatros began in the 1960s. The first flight of the aircraft was completed in November 1968.
