Glock 19 43x - First Look: Glock 43X and Glock 48 Hands-On Review [VIDEO] One of the first to grab the Glock 43X and Glock 48 for a detailed review after putting 250 rounds through each of these 9mm pistols.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard about the new Glock 43X and Glock 48 that were officially announced on January 2nd, 2019. Immediately, people jumped on social media platforms and expressed their thoughts on the gun. before you see it, act it or shoot it. I admit I had my own opinion on both pistols when Glock announced them. At first glance, neither looked like a gun that would fit into my everyday carry. But I love shiny new things, so I was looking forward to reviewing this.

I assumed the first hands-on time I would get with them would be at the upcoming Shot Show sometime in 2019. But luckily, I got a chance to check them out this week. While I wasn't excited to increase my workload before heading to Vegas this Sunday, I couldn't turn down the offer to try out the Glock 43X and Glock 48.

I was originally going to do a separate review of each of these pistols, but they are so similar that I decided to combine them into one review. The difference is that the Glock 43X is similar in length to the Glock 43 and the Glock 48 is similar in length to the Glock 19.

First off, I'd like to say that I'm not a Glock fan. But I'm far from a Glock hater. I currently carry a Glock 19 MOS and a Glock 43 depending on what I'm carrying that day. But I recently returned to carrying a Glock in early 2018. Before that I had a Springfield Armory XD Mod.2. I will leave the reason for the change for another article. The XD has become my go-to EDC since its release in 2014. Before switching to the XD, I had a Glock 26, a Glock 23, and a Taurus PT-140, which was my first carry gun until it broke during weekend pistol training. of course. .

I only state this to show that I am not wedded to one manufacturer or gun. I own many berets and enjoy shooting them to this day. I grew up shooting Berettas. The only guns I remember my father having were a Beretta and a cowboy gun, I don't remember the model. I just don't carry or use any of them as home defense pistols. For me, they make me nostalgic and fun shooting at the range.

Since that hasn't happened, let's get down to the actual review. Here are the specs for both the Glock 43X and the Glock 48. I also added other popular pistols for comparison.

I didn't have a Sig P365 to compare it to, but check out the Glock G43X vs. Sig P365 from Gun Talk.

Building on the success of the Glock 42 .380 and Glock 43 9mm, both the Glock 43X and Glock 48 are single-barreled 9mm pistols. Glock classifies these as their Silver Slimline series. Both have the same grip length as the compact Glock 19. When I first saw the words "Glock 43X" I thought it might be a Glock 43 with a longer barrel and slide, which would have been interesting. But no, they went the Glock 19X route, making the grip longer and keeping the barrel and slide the same on the 43X. The Glock 48 is essentially a slimmer, single barrel Glock 19.

The silver nPVD coated slider and front teeth are the other two features that stand out. Whether they will offer the pistols in the regular black color remains to be seen. The sights on both guns I received are standard factory polymer sights, but they will also be available with steel and night sights.

The grip texture is the same as the Glock 43, with squares (or pyramids) that don't stand out as much as the textures on the Gen 4 and Gen 5 models. And while the Glock43X and Glock 48 are not Gen 5s, the magazines have an orange follower like the Gen 5 models. One thing I noticed is that the 43X fits perfectly in the holsters I have for my Glock 43.

Comparing The Glock 43x To The Glock 43: In Depth Analysis

Regardless of whether or not I thought any of these pistols would fit into my concealed carry setup, I was still eager to get to the range and shoot. I ended up at the outdoor gun range closest to the house just as they opened the morning after I got them. I plan to shoot at least 250 rounds through each to see how they fired, check for malfunctions, and see if shooting one of them changes my mind. Both guns already had about 250 rounds.

It was a relatively cool morning in Louisiana, about 40 degrees. My fingers were already sore from a tough jiu-jitsu session the day before, so loading 500 rounds into the 10 round magazines was no fun at all.

But I enjoyed shooting both guns. Let me start by saying that I have not had any malfunctions with the Glock 43X and Glock 48. Both guns have performed flawlessly and have been more accurate than I have. I was quickly reminded why I need to go to the range to train more often, one of my 2019 resolutions.

Did I enjoy shooting with the G43X and G48 over the G43? Yes. But for the same reasons I like shooting with my G19 more than the G43, it allows me to get the full frame. The Glock 48 also didn't feel as engaging as the smaller barreled G43X. Interestingly, I seemed to shoot better with the G43X than the 48. While I enjoyed shooting with the 43X and 48, I picked up my G19 with a Trijicon RMR Type 2 and quickly realized how much I loved shooting my favorite EDC. . It just feels right to me.

So it's a Glock 43 with a larger grip (Glock 43X) and one Glock 19 (Glock 48). Like I said before, I don't think any of these will replace what I'm currently wearing. The Glock 48 doesn't have an accessory rail and seems too thin to have a red dot mounted on it, so I wouldn't trade my Glock 19 for a Glock 48 just to get 4mm less width. Most of the time I can conceal my Glock 19. And when I can't, I carry my Glock 43. And I carry the 43 because the grip is what caused my 19 to print in some wardrobe situations. So I wouldn't be interested in 43X either.

Everyone had different wants and needs, so what works for me may not work for the next person. My wife recently started filming last year and to my surprise she really likes it. Out of all the pistols I had, she chose the Springfield Armory XD as the one that seemed right for her. So I did a quick check with him. I told him to hold my G19 to see how it felt. Then I let her hold the G48 and I thought she really liked the feel of it. Single stack guns fit her small hands better.

She doesn't currently have any concealed carry, but she likes to shoot at the range, so I think a Glock 48 would be the perfect gun for her. She can achieve a full grip without using the pink extension, which in turn allows her to do more laps. And the G48 gives it a longer barrel that won't be as fast as the short subcompact barrel. With her coming soon, I have a feeling Glock will get my money back.

Luke McCoy is the founder of USA Carry. In 2007, he started USA Carry to provide concealed carry information and community support for concealed carry permit holders and firearms enthusiasts. Just bought one today without even knowing it existed. The gun guy said look at the 43X and I thought Wtf he was talking about he showed me a gun that I held much better than a reg 43 with mag extensions. Noticed the longer grip and the 10 round jars, take my money!! Only 2 things I don't like are the dull color of the slide and the grip needs a better texture to slide. I haven't fired yet, but overall I'm satisfied.
